The most typical cases of the absence of articles are:

· Before plural nouns if the corresponding singular one is used with the indefinite article. For example: It’s been ages an age since we met. There aren’t such things/compare: Your daughter is such a sweet little thing/

· Before non-count abstract and mass/material/nouns used in the most general sense. For example: But then ,of course, there was love. Life isn’t all fun.

Besides the nouns man and woman are used without any article in the generic meaning .For example: Man is mortal .Man is a hunter, woman is his game.
